INDESIGN PRACTICE

Had an introduction to InDesign today and had to produce an article using a layout of our choice from a slideshow. I preferred the photographic magazine layout for this particular article (article source: http://www.einslive.de/musik/platten/2012/09/120906_billy_talent_dead_silence.jsp) on Billy Talent.
Article belongs to 1LIVE and photograph by Dustin Rabin for Billy Talent.

TYPOGRAPHIC POSTERS

After class today I wanted to make a couple of typographic posters in Adobe Illustrator using some lyrics. Here are the end results!

First 3: "Gewinner" by Clueso
Last: "Hanging by a Thread" by Billy Talent

OVERHEARD CONVERSATIONS

So our task for this week's discussion was typographically set-out illustrations of overheard conversations.
Seriously, I overheard nothing. Nada. Nichts. Rien. This was about the only thing I did overhear...because in a supermarket in England this is all you hear.

Enjoy it in all its simplicity.

BROWN PAPER SERIES 5

A little supplement of the illustrations using brown paper.

Mexican sugar skulls - Día de los Muertos.

AND YOU'LL NEVER GUESS...

...More bears.
Typograhic bears.

MAGGIE ON A DOLLAR BILL

Played around a bit in Photoshop today and wanted to do something different with "Hospital" so it came down to putting Maggie on a dollar bill (sorry Washington).

Wanted to still keep the red in there for her dress to make it different.

HOSPITAL: FIRST SKETCH IN THE NEW MOLESKINE!

Got myself some Moleskine journals the other day and decided to break one in and test the watercolour.

"Hospital" is Maggie Beauford as portrayed by Jessica Chastain in the 2012 film Lawless. (Absolutely loved this film)
Reference below. Pencil sketch, biro drawing and watercolour.

"THE GREAT FACE RACE"

A small project from Uni a week ago. Take a massive A0 portrait of yourself and draw on it by hand stuff personal to you that connects the audience with who you are.
Handdrawn first; digital version last (completed in Photoshop).

I used one of my own works in the digital version ("HAMSA") to just sort of cover the background.

MOSCOW: REVISITED

Not literally.
Playing about in Photoshop waiting for my lecturer to arrive and remembered I had an old sketch of Russia I never did anything with. Did a couple of variants (text and halftone edges) but overall a pretty good experiment to unwind with.

EDITORIAL ILLUSTRATION PRACTICE

Today at University was all about editorial illustration and how to convey the message without words so it was a matter of context, content and form.
Given 5 phrases to depict; here are 2:

"Sky's the limit"

"Devil's in the detail"

Just simple Faber-Castell ink pen (XS & M)
