SANKT MARTIN II: SCREENPRINT

Did some screen printing at university today with one of my course-friends and came out with some pretty good results.

Some prints that didn't come out too well the first time with vermillion I then printed cerulean over the top and displaced the image.

My friend then had a great idea to make some look like playing cards by turning the pages upside down and printing again.

CIRCUS CIRCUS

A project for university this semester.

A few pages from my sketchbooks with titles:

LEFT TO RIGHT: Gennadiy and Grigoriy (strongmen),
Katenka (acrobat), Queue (for the big top).

These three sketches with watercolour (and dark sepia Faber-Castell Indian ink B [brush] pen for Gennadiy and Grigoriy) were done in my new Moleskine sketchbook which has the most lovely (possibly 180+ or so gsm) paper to work on.

The subject we are given to work with is the theme of "circus" so I've been looking and experimenting a lot with shape and colour; challenging how I normally use my preferred media of choice and also trying out a handful of different ones while creating a narrative.

FABELHAFT II

Experimenting with digital collage.

I used Photoshop alongside parts of a previous illustration with a postcard of Celia Hammond in Paris taken in 1962.

FABELHAFT

Using part of an old illustration for my coffee shop zine from university last year, text lyrics from Kraftwerk's "Das Modell / The Model".

I wanted to create something mainly black and white in the end after playing around with Photoshop on another piece; something not too fussy. I decided to add one colour (red) with the hard brush as a circle of rouge to implicate it's make-up or on a model's, or woman's cheek.

SANKT MARTIN

Since it is coming up to Martinstag (Saint Martin's Day) next month on the 11.November I took a break to create a portrait for the occasion.

A continuous line portrait of Saint Martin, the Roman soldier who cut his cloak in two to share with a beggar.

Made using Bristol board 220gsm no-grain card, Faber Castell XS Indian ink pen and the bottom two portraits, Photoshop for brush detail.
